Music 4 the road - 7. The Mountain Goats, "Up the Wolves".
I heard this song at the end of the Season 4, Episode 12, of the Walking Dead and had to find it. This is a great song, check out The Mountain Goats when you get a chance.
"The Mountain Goats are an American indie folk rock band formed in Claremont, California by singer-songwriter John Darnielle. The band is currently based in Durham, North Carolina."
"For many years, the sole member of the Mountain Goats was Darnielle despite the plural moniker. Although he remains the core member of the band, he has gradually worked with a variety of collaborators who have included bassist Peter Hughes, drummer Jon Wurster, singer-songwriter Franklin Bruno, bassist and vocalist Rachel Ware, singer-songwriter/producer John Vanderslice, guitarist Kaki King and Annie Clark."
"Throughout the 1990s, the Mountain Goats were known for producing low-fidelity home recordings (most famously, on a boom box) and releasing recordings in cassette or vinyl 7" formats. Since 2002, the Mountain Goats have adopted a more polished approach, recording studio albums with a full band."

today's beer of the day - 15. @finchbeer #threadlessipa #goldmedalwinner
Today on TBD - 15, Finch's Beer Co., Threadless IPA. It is an India Pale Ale that was made by Finch's Brewing Company out of Chicago, IL.
"Finch’s Beer Company’s Threadless IPA is the gold medal winner in the IPA category at this year’s World Expo of Beer, Michigan’s largest international beer sampling event. Our Threadless/Finch collaboration IPA is a balanced experience of both perceived hoppiness and true bitterness. It pours a darker amber color and finishes with a citrus flavor, and when combined, will require this to be the last IPA you ever drink!"
My impression of this beer is: that it has a moderate head when first poured. It is milky abler in color with a lot of carbonation visible as it rests. It has a hoppy, almost skunky, aroma and it is very smooth as you take the first sip. It has a similar flavor as well, very hoppy, and the flavor is very good overall. It drinks very smoothly and washes past the tongue in the same fashion. As it leaves the mouth it has a little bite as it is going down. Overall this is a solid beer both in flavor and finish. It has a 6.0 ABV and it is a good drinking beer which will keep you coming back for another. I enjoyed this beer and I bet you will too.

Weekly Video XXIII - "Adventure is calling", By Shane Black
This from photographer Shane Black: "This summer, two friends and I all left our comfortable jobs of six years to spend two months traveling across the country and teaching photography workshops along the way. We all felt that it was time to take a risk and get out of our comfort zones... adventure was calling us. It was a trip filled with endless hours cooped up in a van, exploring breathtaking landscapes, sharing stories and laughs, meeting some of the nicest people, making new friends, getting to meet old friends from around the country, and sharing our love of photography with others."
"It was an adventure that gave us many memories that we will all hold onto for many years to come. I think that everybody needs to take a trip and have their eyes opened to just how beautiful this world is and how much is really out there."
This video by Shane Black is just what I needed. As we get ready for our 7th and final episode of the season I look at this and can't help but think, great camera work, awesome effects, and amazing time lapse photography. Maybe with some luck and the help of a few good friends we too can capture our trip and have something that is equally and uniquely awesome in its own right. Can't wait to make some memories boys!

music 4 the road - 6. #staccatolive #greenday #timeofyourlife
Music for the road-6: Green Day, "Time of your life" (violin and guitar - Dueto Staccato)
The song "Time of your life" (also known as Good Riddance) by Green Day is one of my favorite songs. It was released in 1997, toward the end of my time in college and just before getting married. For me it represents the angst of growing up and getting older, the lack of control in life at times and the reminder that we need to make the best of the life we have. This version of the song is a unique violin and guitar duet by Staccato Live, I feel that it still maintains the essence of the original and I am excited to share it with you. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.

today's beer of the day - 14. @sierranevada @ninkasibrewing #doublelatte #coffeemilkstout
Today on TBD - 14, Sierra Nevada's Double Latte. It is a coffee milk stout that was made in collaboration with Ninkasi Brewing Company out of Eugene, OR.
"Inspired by the perennial café favorite, Double Latte combines two of the greatest things in life: good coffee and great beer. Oregon’s Ninkasi Brewing knows their way around a good cup of joe. Featuring cold-press coffee from the legendary Stumptown Coffee Roasters and a dose of milk sugar, this coffee milk stout is a rich and roasty treat."
"Double Latte is a cold-press milk stout featuring roasted grain, amazing coffee, and a sweet coffee-chocolate-mocha-like flavor. A play on the milk in a classic latte, lactose or “milk sugar” helps produce a robust, rich body and a sweet malty backbone in this beer."
My impression is that: This is another dark offering in this 12 pack and in my opinion it is probably one of the best stouts I have had! It has a rich roasted aroma and it even smells like it would be thick and creamy. Man it's oh so smooth, you can really detect the coffee flavor and milk sugar. However this in no way take away from it's rich chocolate stout beer appeal. This is one seriously thick smooth beer, the drinkability of this brew is without question. I could easily have a couple of these with no regret. Overall I love this beer, I enjoy a lot of different types of beers and typically you'll find an IPA in my hands as my daily brew. This happens to be one of those occasions in which a beer company, or two, has really brought their A game and knocked one out of the park. It has a 7.6% ABV so it will set you up right after having just a couple. This is the 12th beer in the 12 pack, I have to admit that all of them have been very enjoyable and am looking forward to next year when hopefully they do it all over again. I can't wait, until then I am sure that I will be able to find plenty of beers to review and will gladly give you my humble impression of each of them. Until next TBD, enjoy!
