Weekly Video XXX - Abiqua Falls First Descent by Jesse Coombs. A Lucas Gilman film.
I know what you're thinking, but the 3 X's don't mean this video is inappropriate for young viewers. On the contrary, it is a thrilling must watch for everyone and I think that you will enjoy it.
"On a brisk March day in 2011, Jesse Coombs wedged himself into the 6-foot hull of a whitewater kayak and pointed the lightweight craft toward the lip of a waterfall on Abiqua Creek, a little-known stream in the Cascade foothills near Silverton. As the current took his boat and pulled it over the horizon line, handing his fate over to gravity, he would have three seconds to ask himself whether he had made a very, very bad mistake.
Three seconds, it turns out, is about how long it takes to fall 96 feet, the height of Abiqua Falls.
And at the end of those three seconds, Coombs was bobbing safely in the plunge pool at the cataract’s base, raising his paddle in triumph after completing the first successful descent of Abiqua Falls. Later he would discover he had suffered a collapsed lung and a fractured shoulder socket in the process, injuries he insists sound much worse than they were."

Music 4 the road 13 - I'll be around. Harbor and Home, from the album Dark Days.
"Fans of the Avett Brothers will find a lot to love in this debut video from Harbor and Home, a Minneapolis indie-folk band who are “dedicated to the sole purpose of being a light in the darkest times of life.” The track “I’ll Be Around” is featured on their album Dark Days, which was released earlier this year."
This song inspires me in many ways, it reminds of the connections that we make in our lives. Weather it be sitting around a camp fire, or driving off-road through Appalachia. We each have a path we travel, sometimes it is the road less traveled. The great thing is that we are not alone in our journey. Our friends are right there with us.

today's beer of the day 21 - @gooseisland #rambleripa #redale
"Our third limited release of 2014 featuring hops from Elk Mountain Farm is Rambler IPA. Rambler is a red IPA with Cascade, Mt. Hood, and Amarillo hops."
This beer has a warm red color to it with a pretty good head. There was not much visible carbonation as it rested. It has a floral woody aroma with hints of herbs and citrus. Kinda reminded me of an herbal tea smell, the flavor was reminiscent of the tea as well. It had a smooth crisp finish as it traveled past the tongue, you note the malty flavor as well as you swallow. This is a bit of a different beer but one that I must admit that I really enjoyed. It also offers 6.7% ABV as well, making this an all around solid beer. Try one out, I think you'll agree.

weekly video xxix - the mountain. @tsophotography #worldwidefacts #elteidespain
Weekly Video XXIX - "The Mountain". Video by TSO Photography.
"This was filmed between 4th and 11th April 2011. I had the pleasure of visiting El Teide. Spain´s highest mountain @(3718m) is one of the best places in the world to photograph the stars and is also the location of Teide Observatories, considered to be one of the world´s best observatories."
This is an amazing piece! Make sure you watch it with the volume is up and in full screen mode. There is an interesting fact about the filming of a portion of this video. A large sandstorm hit the Sahara Desert on the 9th April, and at roughly 3am it hit where the filming was taking place. The camera was set for a 5 hour sequence of the milky, and surprisingly, it managed to capture the sandstorm which was backlit by Grand Canary Island making it look like golden clouds. The Milky Way, which was shining through the clouds, made the stars sparkle in a unique way. So for those of you who are curious to see how the Milky Way would look through a Sahara sandstorm, look at 00:32.

Music for the road 12 - "Every Age". Jose Gonzalez, from the album Vestiges&Claws.
How many videos do you get to watch that are shot from space? Not many is the answer that comes to my mind. This was a poignant piece in my opinion. It shows the beauty of the world that we live in and I think the reality that we need to protect it and make it a better place. We have to learn that we can't live for today because tomorrow might just be too late. Think about it as you check out this cool music video.
"Swedish singer José González will release his new solo album Vestiges&Claws early next year. The video for the first extract Every Age was directed by Simon Morris and Chris Higham, and was basically shot from the space."
