Jason grew up exploring the natural environments and mountains that surround him in southwestern Virginia. He is a father, a husband and he's dedicated to telling stories that fuel the passion for adventure. Jason will continue to drive the creative vision of Mountain State Overland as Team MSO embarks on a new season filled with adventure.
Gaby has gained a wealth of knowledge from the overlanding community and strives to soak up each opportunity he can along the road less traveled. Growing up in Beirut, Lebanon introduced him to few places that many of us will ever get the chance to experience and each new journey with MSO edges him closer to his passion for film work. Gaby loves being behind the lens of a camera and capturing the world as he sees it - one video clip at a time.
Jon is a Boston based photographer and adventurist with a passion for adventure-lifestyle and portrait photography. He lives his life in close accord with the natural world where he resources his inspiration. From a young age, Benjamin had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, anything with an engine, and cameras. Growing up in northeast Massachusetts, Benjamin learned about off road travel from a young age, exploring logging roads in northern Maine and New Hampshire by atv and dirt bike, eventually segwaying into racing automobiles around the northeast on long distance road rallies as well as rallycross events. Benjamin worked at a public access television studio throughout high school, and eventually began traveling with a Grand-Am race team shooting editorials. John has been a friend and fan of Mountain State Overland for several years. His passion for creativity is evident in his graphic design and photography work. John was the princple designer for our vehicle wraps and serves as a contract photogrpaher on select guided adventures.
Rachel's "can-do" attitude and ethusiastic spirit keeps the wheels turning. She's a passionate advenuturer that's dedicated to promoting the overland lifestyle and wilderness conservation.
Matt, his wife and his 3 girls live on a small farm tucked off a country road in Bedford County, Virginia. His creative hands and innovative mindset built the brand Blue Ridge Overland Gear. What once operated from a small shed in his backyard is now a overland equipment store and sew shop in Beford, Virginia. Blue Ridge Overland Gear builds a wide range of personal and vehicle storage solutions that are all built locally in his shop. Matt and Blue Ridge Overland Gear have been actively involved in the production and support of Mountain State Overland since 2013.
Rin is a sixth generation native of New Jersey who discovered a love for 4WD vehicles at a young age. He grew up driving his grandfather's CJ-3B around the family farm and following his father up and down the east coast trail riding and camping. You can find Rin with his wife Mercedes still exploring with a Jeep in the northeast or at his day job as director of operations at OK4WD & Alu-Cab USA.
As a national champion cyclist, Peter loves the outdoors and quickly discovered that Vermont has an amazing network of rugged, unmaintained roads great for all sorts of recreation. After graduating from Cornell University and Vermont Law School and building up his law practice, Peter founded one of Vermont’s most successful adventure travel companies, Vermont Overland. When Peter isn’t planning adventure travel events and exploring the Vermont countryside with his family and their Jack Russell terriers, you’ll find him at his day-job as a real estate lawyer at Vollers Law in Reading, VT.
Rian is a husband, father of three boys, 2 fish and 2 free range chickens. He has been riding motorcycles for 15 plus years and enjoys the peace that comes with two wheels on the open road. An environmentalist at heart and through permaculture training, he started a composting business back in 2007 to get food scraps out of the landfill and turned into fresh soil to grow more local food. A few years ago he founded Papa Wolf Supply Company in Portsmouth, NH (a unique store focused on american made and high quality goods focused on the everyday adventurer). Through PWSC's Instagram feed there is a common thread of the enthusiasm for vintage 4x4's, overland ready rigs, and scrambler motorcycles. In late 2016,An oppurtunity arose to come under the same umbrella with Iron & Air Magazine and he jumped at the chance.
From an early age Rich started traveling between the states and Europe with his family. His parent's, both teachers, instilled the importance of learning, not just through the classroom, but also and more importantly, through experience. This helped to develop a passion for adventure and the curiosity to explore at an early age. Currently, he's a Realtor in southeast Alabama and takes any chance for a good adventure. Ryan is a seasoned overland traveler, founder of the Overland Challenge and ExploringNH where he can be found leading week-long overland adventures, instructing off-road driving classes, and just enjoying off-roading or sightseeing in NH. Ryan also owns a Mercedes repair and performance shop but his real passion is longer term overlanding. He has completed several overland trips including riding an Italian superbike to every state in the USA and driving a Land Rover Defender 110 from Canada to Colombia, among many others.
