Mountain State Overland (MSO) is a YouTube series and vehicle-based guide service that is dedicated to documenting adventure travel and telling stories that promote responsible lifestyles along the oldest mountain range east of the Mississippi; the Appalachian Mountains. Since its inception in the "Mountain State" (West Virginia) in 2013, this team of explorers have captured motion and still images that recount nearly 15,000 miles of vehicle-based adventures.
As part of Mountain State Overland's commitment to advocating responsible lifestyles and supporting the general awareness for Earth's natural resources, MSO donates a tree per mile #1MILE1TREE traveled to Trees for the Future during their filming productions. Each tree donated supports the development and management of forest gardens in Africa. By planting specific types of trees and crops in a systematic manner over a four year period, families can change their lives forever. Forest gardens provide families with sustainable food sources, livestock feed, products to sell, fuel wood and up to a 500% increase in their annual income.
With Trees for the Future, farmers in Africa learn to plan for their family’s future with food crops that will help them make more money, grow more food and build a sustainable future. Each forest garden farmer learns to plant rows of nitrogen fixing trees in and along borders of their degraded land to protect the field from pests and mitigate erosion. With over 12 types of fruit trees and vegetables to plant, each farmer creates new market opportunities, income and provides food for their families.
